The series scripture for Home Grown Faith has been: Deuteronomy 6:4 -9..........5 so love the Lord your Gof with all your heart, soul and strength. 6 MEMORIZE HIS LAWS!
It was a really good point that the Pastors made that you can not teach something to your children that you don't know yourself.
I also think it is a really good point to intentinally teach your teen/chldren how to live in this broken world. Not to shelter too much from the world (of course use wisdom) - but instead to teach them how to live in this world depending on God and looking to His Word for answers to hurts and life.
There were so many good points to this sermon....some of which really stuck out for me were: * You can't deal with the behavior without dealing with the heart. This applies to all human interaction I believe! * Teach your child to ask "What does God have to say about this?" not just "What do Mom and Dad have to say about this?". * There is an authority higher than parents - parents should teach this to their children. I heard a 2 1/2 year old quote Ephesians 6:1 the other day.....I would say it is never to early to start. * Don't parent by convenience.
I hope you listen to this message again and recommend it to other parents that you don't know as an encouragement!
